• Keep your windows locked and only unlock them when you are home and need them open
• Make sure all doors and windows have dowels to enhance security
• Don’t leave ladders or chairs outside

Keys

• No matter how well-intentioned they may be, don’t leave your keys in the hands of others – you can get a lock box with a security code to leave outside your home instead
• If you lose your keys, don’t just get new ones, replace the locking system
• Consider making all your keys the same, except the one that others need to use, such as a cleaner or babysitter; that way, if someone does lose a key or your safety is compromised, you only have to replace one lock
